Recycle

I have now been living without my Trash man for a month. I recycle almost everything. I have found that I am not buying things at the store that I can not reuse or recycle.  I did however put one trash bin in the garage for those things we can not recycle or are bad for the environment to burn. I plan to see how long it takes us to fill this bin. Everything else gets loaded up and taken to the local park where the recycle drop off is. It does take some work but you feel like you are giving back, somehow.  We are also eating better as I don't buy as much snack food. Most of the snack food packaging you can't recycle. What have you recycled this week?

Brought vs Homemade

This morning I got up and thought we buy so much in packets and have plastic going to the landfill. Meatballs...... Who really likes the frozen ones. It doesn't matter what you do they still taste gross. Do you really know how easy it is to make them. I got this recipe from my sister and it is so easy and taste really good. I can't wait to have them.

Recipe.
1 Pound Hamburger
1 egg
1/2 cup of breadcrumbs.

Mix and bake for 50 minutes. Pour sauce over them and cook 10 minutes longer.  Today I have put them in the cockpot to see how they turn out. Will post photos later.

Grocery Shopping

After thinking about different ways to save money, time and energy. I decided to go grocery shopping every two weeks. After the first two weeks I have already save $50. Which will be approx. $1200 a year in groceries. That does not include the gas it takes to get there or time. (Which I think everyones time is very important). I can't believe just making this little change and some careful planning would make that much difference.

The Winter is on the way

It has been a few weeks since I posted last. The trees are turning and the jackets are coming out of storage. In the last post I told you the Trash Man was being stopped.  When I called to cancel the owner told me it was a great thing to recycle and he does at home. This was coming from the Trash Man. He said everyone should visit a landfill. Something I have done before and it is sad how much we throw out that someone could use. One man's trash, other man's treasure.  I believe we can all do our bit in helping America stay beautiful.
